A dive into flavours!!

Heyy guys!! i hope you all are doing well and preparing well for the upcoming exams! well we are extreamly sorry for delaying  this post, was really packed up in the last few days and will be for the next 3 months! :/ but we will find a way to reach to you any how as  the love you have given us in these few months is just incredible! thank you soo much guys will surely try our best to write more often and entertain you as much as possible!

When we talk about dips and sauces the first thing i know is ketchup! i have always had a hatered towards ketchup because according to me it just spoils the entire tangy flavour of the food and still it is the first thing that occurs to me when dips and sauces are mentioned! why?? its pretty simple! it doesnt spoil the flavour it makes you dive into a mix of flavours!

All dips and sauces hold the quality of giving you the best of flavours, its just that each one is specialised in one particular flavour which makes you like or dislike a dip/sauce! like ketchup means tomato, mayonnaise means mustard and egg and so on.

DID YOU KNOW??
  • Ketchup traditionally consisted of oyesters, mussels, egg white and walnuts!!
  • mustard origins from rome, 'must' meaning grape juice and 'mustum ardens' meaning burning must gives us "mustard!!"
  • mayonnaise originates from the town of mahon in menorca,Spain from where it was taken to france in 1756.
Soo i hope you guys enjoyed reading this post and discovered new facts in the world of dips and sauces! also i would like you guys to checkout our friends youtube page "jay muffin".
until next time,

Starting with the starters!!

Heyy guyss!! i hope you all are doing well,I apologize for delaying on writing ....was just a bit packed up due to the exams coming up! anyways as its half way december i thought of writing on hot soups and sizzlers as they are one of those beautiful food items which keep you warm and cozy when your freezing in that cold breeze!

SOUPS:
We indians know soups as "kadhas" which are basically bitter ayurvedic soups formed by our ancestors to help overcome illness such as fever, cold, cough etc.And to be frank these will be the worst soups you will ever taste!! XD
DID YOU KNOW??
The first soup was invented as far as 20,000 BC!! Also the word 'restaurant' meaning restoring somrthing was first introduced by the french in 16th BC to refer to a highly concentrated, inexpensive soup sold by street vendors which was used to advertise an antidote to physical exhaustion!!

STARTERS:
Starters according to me are very important as they give you your first impression about a restaurant, hotel, friends place etc.And if the starters arent perfect you really dont enjoy the maincourse as the excitement of tasting mouthwatering flavours is no more to be seen!

well if we talk about starters the first thing i get in my head is chicken tikkas, mutton kababs and fish fry!!(my punjabi ancestors are to be blamed for these thoughts!! :P also do tellme your first thought on starters in the comment section below!)

Sizzlers are one of the most widely known starters which mainly were introduced for the chicken/mutton lovers, who just couldnt get over the flavours of tangy and chicken/mutton! sizzlers is actually a US based restaurant chain started in california mainly known for steak, seafood and saladbar items!

DID YOU KNOW??
The sizzler chain was first founded in 19581 as Dels sizzler family steak house!! It also went through many ups and downs during 1996 but later in 1997 reemerged with a new logo and many more new inventions which still remain to win the hearts of many!

Soo thats it for now, i hope you enjoyed reading and got to know something new! until next time keep eating and keep loving!
your friend,

We scream, you scream, ICE-CREAM !!

This week in Dubai marked the beginning of our holiday spirits and and Christmas preparations along with cold climatic conditions. As Dubai summers are extremely terrible, I always look forward to winter to enjoy playing football with friends (instead of preparing for SA2) and due to excessive exercise, I tend to empty the refrigerator. I eat anything that is available inside my refrigerator, specially ice cream. Eating ice cream after playing football on cold winter night is one of the best feelings you can ever enjoy.

Ice cream is a frozen food often consumed as a snack or desert which is made from dairy products combined with fruits or artificial flavoring. The ingredients are made into a and this mixture is stirred to incorporate air spaces and cooled below the freezing point of water to prevent detectable ice crystals from forming. The result is a smooth, semi-solid foam that is solid at very low temperatures (<35 °F / 2 °C). It becomes more malleable as its temperature increases.

Ice cream originally originated in China around 200 BC as a mixture of rice and milk in a specific proportion.

It was later modernized by the Arabs who used milk as a major ingredient and sweetened it with sugar. They topped this desert with saffron, vermicelli and dried fruits.

During the same time, ice cream became one of the most celebrated deserts in the Mugahal empire. The emperors used to relay their horsemen to bring ice from Hindu Kush to Delhi, where ice cream was prepared.

In Europe, the Roman emperor Nero had ice bought from the mountains and combined it with fruit toppings to create a perfect desert after meal.

Today, ice cream is produced in a very large quantities in factories and this called for quality definitions and standards. Some of them include -
  • greater than 10% milk fat and usually between 10% and as high as 16% fat in some premium ice creams
  • 9 to 12% milk solids-not-fat: this component, also known as the serum solids, contains the proteins (casein and whey proteins) and carbohydrates (lactose) found in milk
  • 12 to 16% sweeteners: usually a combination of sucrose and glucose-based corn syrup sweeteners
  • 0.2 to 0.5% stabilizers and emulsifiers
  • 55% to 64% water, which comes from the milk or other ingredients.
While most prefer hot drinks in winter, Eating ice cream during winter has a lot positive attributes. Ice cream can soothe your sore throat when you have cold. Ice cream can also keep your body temperature low which can help to be in sync with the temperature of the environment and at the same time burn calories faster !

DID YOU KNOW ? - Ice cream can prevent mood swings due to compound which can produce thromobotonin which reduces stress, uplifts the mood and prevent mood swings.

Ice cream helps you to store fat in the body which helps to keep our body warm. Due to its milk content, it is also a good source of vitamin D, K, A, B6, B12 and C. It is also rich in minerals such as calcium and phosphorus. It is also a rich source of energy as it is full of carbohydrates, proteins and fats

Even tho ice cream has a lot of positive attributes, it is still a dream for those who have lactose intolerance and a damaged or a bad digestive system.

Ice cream has no cons other than its fat, saturated fat, cholesterol and sugar content. So remember, always find a balance !

EAT WELL, STAY HEALTHY !

Until next time,

Get me some cookies!!!

Heyy guyss!! I hope you are doing well and are getting the december vibes!! woaah...this year was fast ,isnt it?! so as a dear friend anu requested us to write on her favourite, 'Cookie' and also as its december which means you obviously got  hot coffee in your hand,  which made it seem like a pretty good topic to talk on! XD

Cookies have always been my mid night snacks,my best friend in hard times....and all this while i have been tellin everyone to tell me who invented these little smiles and yet never really tried googling the hands behind this delicious invention until now and  her name is Ruth Graves Wakefield! (really girls are just amazing!! no one beats them!) well Ruth Graves worked as an dietitian at first but later on her husband husband happened to buy a tourist lounge which initiated the spread of the  mouthwatering cookies!

Okay thats enough of history ...as i don't want any of you to doze off let me freshen you up with a fun fact! did you know that the great inventor of cookies sold the idea of chocolate chip cookies to nestle toll house in exchange of lifetime supply of chocolate??! (i bet 5 yr old kids would be a daily visitor like one of those aunties in India who come asking for sugar or milk just after the sun rise and piss you off completely!XD)

The traditional recipe combines a dough composed of butter and both brown and white sugar semi sweet chocolate chips, well due to health conscious people, we have oatmeal cookies which are pretty good but not like the original!

Well, I hope you enjoyed reading and got to know something new, do post your suggestions in the comment section below!

Until then,
 Rashmika Goel
