Red Bull

As you all are aware, red bull is an energy drink that needs no further introduction to. Some might just heard of it while some are addicts. I am an addict. My consumption is mostly for the purpose of staying up all night finish studying and rarely due to my fear of sleeping.

http://worldversus.com/img/redbull.jpg

Sometimes my consumption exceeds advised limits and this is not because I don't know the side effects of red bull, this because I chose to do so.

As an addict, I'd like to make sure I spread my knowledge about these products and let you decide if starting this habit is worth it.

To begin with, here is what happens to your body 24  hours after drinking it -

What happens to your body 24 hours after drinking Red Bull

source - http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/technology-science/science/what-happens-your-body-24-6244871

Now, here is a list of what might happen in case of exceeding limits -

Here are some common side effects -

1) Drinking too much red bull can lead to chronic diseases

2) Red bull can also lead to Insomnia

3) Excessive drinking of red bull energy drink can lead to obesity

4) When mixed with alcohol it can lead to disastrous results

5) It can also cause severe headaches and migraine issues

6) Red bull can also cause Diabetes

7) It can also cause extreme mood swings

Here is why pregnant women are advised against consumption -

Another main side effect of red bull is that it can lead to miscarriage among pregnant women. Hence, it should be completely avoided by women who are pregnant or are planning to conceive.

Here is why children below the age of 16 are advised against consumption -

The presence of large amounts of caffeine and sugar is not good for small kids. It can even hamper their growth and cause extensive damages to the delicate hormones and tissues inside their bodies. Hence, one must completely avoid giving red bull to small kids.

With it all this knowledge, it is just our arrogance that motivates consumption. I must admit I am arrogant and I am not proud of it.

Make wise choices !

Biography: Gordon Ramsay

https://thebrandbuilder.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/gordon-01.jpg

Gordon Ramsay, born on 8th November 1966,  is a Scottish-born British chef, restaurateur and Television Personality.

His restaurants have been awarded 16 Michelin Awards. His signature restaurant is the Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea, London. It has held 3 Michelin Awards since 2001.

Ramsay is widely known for hosting TV programmes related to cookery and food such as Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, Hell’s Kitchen, and The F Word.

He began taking his love for cooking seriously by the age of 19. In the early 1980’s, he worked as a commis chef at the Wroxton House Hotel, and then ran the kitchen and dining room at Wickham Arms. He worked at Harvey’s for around 2 years and 10 months, he quit because of “the rages and bullying and violence” of his employer.

After many more hotels and restaurants, he returned to London is 1993. He was offered the position of head chef in the La Tante Claire. After this, even though he faced a few hard times having to leave valuable partnerships in order to achieve his dreams, his prosperity went up.

Ramsay’s migration to television began in the late 1990’s when he became the star of a British television documentary, Boiling Point. From there, he went on to star in Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, and then Hell’s Kitchen and a variety of other programmes.

Ramsay married schoolteacher Cayetana Elizabeth “Tana” Hutcheson in 1996. The couple has four children; Megan, twins Holly and Jack, and Matilda.

Gordon Ramsey is one of the most widely known chefs of this age. His character certainly adds to his fame.

Gordon Ramsay is an inspiration to those who are looking forward to breaking the shell of being engineers and doctors, but no post on Gordon Ramsay is complete without his memes...

The man who slayed off engineers and doctors

Surfing internet makes almost 99% of my life. As I was surfing through, I noticed it was 'National Superhero day', so yeah... thought of writing about a superhero on the blog.

While deciding on the person to focus on, a dilemma set in - one being my mother who I consider to be the best cook or some random cook from whom I never had the privilege of their cuisine. Through all this, one chef stood out, it was Sanjeev Kapoor.

Being an amateur commerce student, the only thing I know is to do the pros and cons table to finalize the winner between my mom an Sanjeev Kapoor... and as the title suggests, you know the rest.

Now, why my mom lost ?
She passed 12th grade with minimum support and was forced to household chores along with cooking. Cooking became her passion only after some time. To add to the cons, she did not really make a difference, she accepted the expectations of the society and took the kitchen with no other options left, but Sanjeev Kapoor stands out, in a society where male members are expected to be engineers and doctors, this man did something out of the normal and proved all those "intellectual" grey haired loons wrong.

Sanjeev Kapoor started in hospitality industry in 1984 with a diploma in Hotel management form the Institute of Hotel management, New Delhi. He then worked in many hotels and made his name. He also won several awards and owns the food food channel along with successful running of Khana Khazana which is the longest running show of its kind in Asia.

What makes him so special ?
Sanjeev Kapoor was a well off student during his time in high school. He always stole the spot somewhere in the top 5 of his school. He was interested in biology and way too good at maths with 99% in math. What makes him special is that he did not write any of those IIT tests or any such stuff and applied for architecture. That is when his friend told him about Hotel management. He filled the form despite being uncertain of his choice. To his dilemma, he got seats for both courses, but he chose Hotel management over architecture. Today, his decision made him not only rich but also famous. He is the man behind the idea of cooking on TV.

His story is an inspiration to those who feel bad that they did not get science stream as well as for those who lost interest in science stream. His story teaches us that every decision made precise can make you successful while teaching our parents that engineers and doctors are not the only career choices.

Make wise choices !

Eating is a Necessity but Cooking is an Art - Aathira James

There is nothing more satisfying than a good home cooked meal. Sure, hogging on junk food or eating out might sound so much easier, but as a pretty good cook (title given by my mom!) myself I can guarantee that having the food I cooked is a much more rewarding experience and more so, when I share it with the people I love.

When I was little, or as many of you might know, the time when saying ‘wazaaaa!’ was cool, I used to watch my mother cook with great fascination. The way the colours mixed and changed as the spices were added, the sound made when the pakoras fried in the simmering oil, the aroma that filled the house, the anticipation before the first bite, all were just so fascinating. It was as if my mother was Da Vinci and the pan was her canvas.

I considered cooking as more of an art than a job. It too required skill, creativity and talent. Cooking for others and myself gave me a sense of peace, I could forget the world while I cooked and this was more rewarding than any take-outs or in ‘n’ outs. The smiles on the faces of the people I cooked for makes it all the more rewarding.

Cooking with your family or friends brings you closer together and you also get to know their likes and dislikes.

Cooking, be it instant noodles or a gourmet meal, should be something everyone should try and have fun with. Considering it a duty or a job rather than an art takes the fun out of it.

So always consider the pros and have fun with whatever you do be it cooking or writing an article for your best friend’s blog.

I would like to end with a quote by Craig Claiborne, “Cooking is at once child's play and adult joy. And cooking done with care is an act of love.”

Colossal wastage of food in Indian weddings

This is one of the most anticipated topic, every CBSE student is familiar with this one, but anyways I am going to write about it!

Indian weddings are known for various things such as the ethnic music, irrelevant dancing, annoying guests, that one neighbor who is jealous of your entire family and lots more, but one common characteristic is cooking excessive food, more than what is required!

Here are some statistics that you are free to skip past if you have no interest -

A survey shows that annually, Bangalore alone wastes 943 tonnes of quality food during weddings. "This is enough to feed 2.6 crore people a normal Indian meal," a study by a team of 10 professors from the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Bangalore, has concluded.

The team, under the guidance of UAS vice-chancellor K Narayana Gowda, surveyed 75 of Bangalore's 531 marriage halls over a period of six months.

"About 84,960 marriages are held at 531 kalyana mantapas (marriage halls) in Bangalore every year. About 943 tonnes of high-calorie quality food is wasted in these halls annually. At an average cost of Rs 40 per meal, the total food wastage in the city is estimated at Rs 339 crore," the study said.

On an average, 1,000 people attend a wedding where two meals are served - lunch at the wedding and dinner for reception, besides breakfast.

"About 10-20 items are served at a wedding ceremony. The maximum items served include 100 grams each of soup and juice, followed by 50 grams each of puri and pulao," the survey stated. It also concluded that rice and cereals were on top, making for 35% of the wastage.

"On an average, a typical wedding meal is very rich in energy. Each meal may have 1,239 calories, enough to meet an entire day's requirement of a child! The wastage per meal amounted to 20% at 246 calories," said Gowda.

Making a huge issue of these things like CBSE enforcing its will on students did cause some awareness.

Recently a Delhi couple tried to pull out a major trick, zero-food wastage marriage, only those who organised this knows how successful this ended up.

With malnutrition as a major problem around the world, including India, wasting foods is not only unethical but it shows how much of jerk you are to other people who is not economically strong as you.

To make sure you do not commit these mistakes: here are few tips to avoid food wastage.

1) Having an elaborate menu

2) Making RSVP a must (this is commonly ignored in India)

3) Making sure that the prepared food is good

4) Having a child-friendly menu to satisfy the taste buds of young toddlers (doesn't mean you should forget about teenagers xD)

5) Maintaining hygiene standards

6) Using the leftovers (Many non-profit NGO's work on redistribution of these leftover to those who are not privileged. Contacting these NGO's prior to wedding, will help you not only to redistribute but also ensures hygiene standards)

With all these information, do right by the society.

Din Tai Fung - Akhil Krishna

So this week , I went on a journey in search of new cuisines and flavours. Atlast,  this search landed me in wonderful and exquisite  restaurant called Din Tai Fung. It is a gourmet restaurant located in Mall Of Emirates, which deals mainly with cooking of authentic taiwanese food. The first thing you sense when you are about to reach Din Tai Fung is the sweet yet spicy aroma of the various dishes being made. This joint is mainly famous for it's Xiao Ling Bao (Soup Dumplings).

The dumplings arrive in a steaming wooden casket made from bamboo. Then there are Wontons. Wontons are basically dumpling dough filled with schezwan vegetables and your preferred meat, tossed in a special sauce. If you are not full by now, don't worry. There is more to come.

The dishes what a person HAVE to try next in Din Tai Fung are The Beef Fried Rice(Or any meat of your preference) and The Chicken Chowmein(Again, any meat of your preference). The fried rice itself, is like butter melting in the mouth. The beef is very soft yet crispy, giving it an amazing texture and feel. And the chowmein...... No words to describe the taste.

So here ended my journey of discovery. Overall, Din Tai Fung is not very expensive, but it is more expensive than your average fast food spot. It's a great restaurant with good decor and amazing food. All in all, it is a restaurant to be experienced and enjoyed.

Until next time, ✌out.

Having a perfect meal

Going through a time where stress is so common, we hardly get to meet our friends, family and relatives, basically you miss the company of those who you love and those who love you. We tend to care more about the cause of stress than anything else.

For me, I am just occupied with preparation for exams and various other problems, I hardly communicate with my own family. It is not that my family helps me reduce my stress, it is a miracle if they don't increase it. Basic relationships gets destructed due to a lot of issues and due dates.

What brings all the broken relationships back to normal is nothing but food. Family dinners brings us all to this one table, next to each other. It gives us the chance to be together. I meet my dad once a day at the dining table and it really makes my day. No mater what feuds or disagreements we have, nothing works in the table.

Eating food all alone with no one that you care about beside you is nothing but a curse. Eating alone is not even thrilling or fun no mater what you eat.
The fun while eating even th cheapest food with you friends is no match for all the food you can get to eat being alone.

Food is a tool that strenghtens relationships.
Recently, I read an article how dinner dates strenghten relationship (dating is haram though :p), it has been found that it not only is fun but helps you psycholigically. If one can watch another eat, there is nothing more required to prove how strong a person is when being with another.

Food is a miracle, blessing that can unite families, friends and find people that turn out to be more than you expect them to be (like me)!

Kon'nichiwa Japan!!

Heyy guyss!! hoping you all are doing well and are happy! i was ready with one of my drafts long back but unfortunately couldnt post it and obviously the reason is exams! :/ anyways before my next set of exams start i wanted to post because i have no clue when am i gonna post next!

I dont think i have to tell what im going to talk about...the title says it all! the essence of japanese cuisine reminds me of sushi! well i never got a chance to try sushi but would love to try it! it seems delicious...sushi is a japanese food consisting of vinegered rice combined with raw uncooked seafood, vegetables and sometimes tropical fruits.

Japanese food is often metioned in connection with a healthy diet because of the large amount of fish and vegetable eaten. We can say that rice is the most important staple food in japan, it is eaten in almost every meal.

DID YOU KNOW??

  •  Green tea is prepared in japan and is prepared in various forms as 'matcha' (the tea used in  japanese tea ceremony).
  • 'Sake' is a brewed rice beverage that typically contains 15-17% of alcohol and is made by multiple fermentation of rice.
Soo i would like to conclude now but before i go i would like to metion that we now have a FB and an instragram page! so do check it out and share our blogs if you like them! ;)
(p.s. topic credits to one of our most favourite readers Aayushi!)
until next time,

New Year, New resolutions

Happy New Year guys!
One thing that signifies new year are the resolutions. Despite planning all the things you want to do, new year resolution is something we only follow for a week or two.

One of the most common resolution of new year is to get rid of your excessive pounds. To follow this, you might sign up for gym or yoga classes but the bitter truth is that you won't be able to follow. You will either end all your sessions or you will start eating everything!

All these courses and sessions will be only a requirement to build up and not reduce weight if we simply add certain things to your diet. (unless you are like me, I am terrible at following a fixed diet. I eat anything when I am hungry :p)

So here is a list of what you could munch while you are bored -

1) Vegetables and fruits with lot of water content
2) Almonds
3) Lentils
4) Dark chocolate
5) Citrus fruits (also citrus juice)
6) Greek yoghurt and cottage cheese
7) Eggs
8) Oatmeal
9) Broth-based soups
10) Berries
11) Fish
12) Flax seed

This are some of the things that will help you get rid of those extra pounds. It is agreeable that some of the items on the list seems wrong, but trust me, it isn't!

I will do it separate post on each to explain how it's gonna help you!

Have a great year ahead!
