Dont judge a book by its cover

I was always fascinated by digging deep into each and everything. To those who have read my older posts, might realize how jobless I am. One thing I wanted to experiment on this blog was to write about my personal experience rather than writing about the intense scientific facts related to food, and today, I actually took up the initiative!

For some reason, my family hates outside food and even if I take up the initiative to eat outside, we probably end up eating in one of the fast food joints.

One unusual Friday evening, my dad asked if mom prepared anything for dinner, and as it was evening, my mom didn't prepare anything for dinner (my mom usually starts cooking around 8:30 pm). A sudden brightness rose in my dad's face, he told us "my friend told me there is this restaurant in Al Quoz, it seems that their preperation is tradional afghan style. My friend also told me that they served one of the best cooked food (non-veg) in Dubai!".

On hearing this, we were quite satisfied to try eating in this place and to eat something different rather than the usual chicken burger or fried chicken.

We reached there around 9 pm and to our surprise, the place was extremely messed up. It was truly the worst sight you could imagine of a restaurant.
It was extremely shabby and so dirty that you don't even feel like stepping inside.

Me and my family were in a sudden shock, we couldn't believe we mad this decision. We even started making plans to just go to a fast food joints.

After a mighty struggle, my dad convinced us to try since we went all the way there. We somewhat accepted it and stepped in with every bit of regret.

We founds a table and we sat with so much discomfort. Except for my dad, none of us knew what to order. My dad ordered something which we could share and eat.

After waiting for about 15 minutes, the food was served and "oh my god!" was the first thing I could say on seeing what was on the plate. It was beautiful, and as we started to eat, it's taste made us forget the atmosphere. All of a sudden, we did not care about the ketchup stains in the table cloth, the food on the floor, not so neat cutlary set, nothing really mattered.

Trust me it was one of the best meals I had and now I really wouldn't mind visiting this place again for the food they offer. This was actually the only time the atmosphere was neglected by me in a restaurant.

I hope you enjoyed reading my experience in a very unusual setting, specially in Dubai.

By the way, it's gonna be exactly 1 month by 12 am and during this one month, we got 1.3K views! Thank you for supporting us and we look forward to entertain you with more amazing content.

We actually thought of something special for 1 month anniversary of this blog but due to exams and preparation for exams kept us extremely occupied. So we though we'll do something special for Christmas and New Year and apparently we are out of ideas!

Pizza's are here!!!

Heyy guyss! i hope all of you are doing well and surviving through your exams! XD soo as one of our readers and a close friend naeema requested us to write on her favourite food, soo here we go!!

Before we get into the mordern flavours of pizza lets get to know how pizza's came into being! so apperently pizza's have evolved from similar flatbread dishes in Naples,Italy in the 18th and the 19th century, which were often topped with garlic, salt, lard(pig fat),cheese and basil.they are commanly reffered to as traditional pizzas.( serious talk guys, whos craving for pizzas right now??)

As we all know everything changes as time passes by,(example:you grow older, smarter, and crazier with time!;) ) same is the case with pizza's with time they happend to evolve into new flavours which were loved by the new people! like margaritas, doritos pizzas,BBQ chicken pizzas and so on.

Pizza has always been a close friend to me for years now...its my campanion for hangouts, family times, movie days and soo much more. I bet all of you out there can relate to this! specially teens! :D

soo before i leave i would like to say, you can't buy happiness but you can buy pizza's and thats kind of the same thing you know! ;)

your mates,

Coffee

As a 10th grade student, days and nights aren't quite the same compared to couple of years ago. As board exams are approaching, it's been a regular habit to at least pretend that I am studying. During times like this or to be precise, before exams, our minds go way beyond our control, we lose interest, we tend to do crazy stuff and we become pathetic! These are just the result of stress.

One of the simplest solution to regain our concentration is coffee. Coffee is a really enjoyable drink it just gives you the power go on with your work. For me, coffee is the main source of energy that keeps going through all the boring classes in school.

Coffee is advised for students during exam because of its caffeine content which acts a mild stimulant which helps us increase our capacity to study.

Coffee can help us concentrate on our main work even when there is a lot of distraction. It helps us to maintain our focus.

Our memory can be divided into two, short time memory (STM) which used while studying and understanding concepts and the other type of memory is long time memory (LTM) which stores information that will be recalled when they are required.

Coffee aids STM to retain a lot lot information at the same time promote concentration and reduce fatigue.

Coffee breaks in between sessions can also maintain emotional stability during stressful times.

For now, you might believe that coffee is amazing but did you know that coffee can kill you?
Over consumption or bad quality of coffee can be toxic to our body. Over consumption can also result in restlessness. Coffee also has cafestol which can increase the LDL cholesterol level in the body and thus coffee isn't advised for high cholestrol patients.

Despite all the positive aspects of drinking coffee, it has some negative aspects too. This negative aspects are shown usually because of over consumption. So, the next tim you drink coffee, make sure you don't get addicted to it. Maintain your limits and gain the maximum good things you can within that limit.

All the best for your exams, until next time,

Myth Buster !

Growing up as a fat kid, I had a lot people advising me about healthy diet, food pyramid and those stuff which at that time was not really convincing (still not). It becomes more hard to take it in when these so called "worried" people are fat themselves :p

To make these advices people came up with a new form of conveying these messages, lying. A promising lie is always accepted no matter how stupid it sounds. These lies passed on from generation and were thought to be true. These lies, as time passed, evolved into myths.

Thank to advance knowledge of science we are blessed with, we can easily identify and prove these myths are not true. Thought some of the myths are proven to be incorrect, people ignore these and still believe what they were thought by their ancestors. As an initiative to chang your mind, I'm gonna go on "busting" some of the very commo myths about food that people still believe to be true.

1) Low fat food are healthier than others

This is a very common misconception. It is true that low fat products have less fat compared to regular products  but fat is required to absorb other nutrients and carry out daily processes lack of fat can disrupt the transfer of message in the neurotransmitter.

2) Dairy products are good for bones

Dairy products are rich source of calcium and vitamin D but bone health goes beyond that. Bone health requires vitamin K as well. The combination of these three are present only In green veggies which you probably hate.

3) 8 glasses of water a day

Water is the most important resource for our body. This common myth started as a 'barely researched about' campaign. The truth is, there is no set amount of water requirement a day. 8 glasses of water a day would have no additional advantages other than what you get from drinking a glass less. It is widely prefered to make sure that the body doesn't dehydrate.

These are just 3 myths we saw. There are plenty more! It's the 21st century and everything is a click away. It is just our ignorance that results in us not knowing about these.

I encourage you all to find out more and "bust" the myth xD

Until next time

Lets talk sweet!

Heyy guys, i hope all of u are doing well...its been a while since i wrote so thought why not now?!
also firstly i would like to thank you all for 700+ views in less than a month! :D it truely is a great feeling!! yess guys i am bit overexcited! :P (thank you for the love and support guys!)

Soo today like any other morning i woke up and checked my FB,insta etc.and i was shocked to see posts all about rain in dubai!! surprisingly they were all true, and so me and my faimly were having tea and biscuits in the balcony....while i just thought how amazing it would be to write a whole blog only about bakery!! so here i am talking sweet!!

To be frank for me bakery is just cakes and pastries!xD but nope bakery isnt all about cakes and pastries its alot more than that, infact bakery is our main source of starting and ending a day! baked food somehow has always given each one of us immense pleasure and happiness....like those times when you baked a cake for your peers, those times in the rain when you hogged on biscuits alongwith tea, those midnight snacks that you had, those two minute beakfasts and so on!

Infact breads were soo important between the ancient greeks that they were producing more than eighty types of breads before 2500BC,also for the egyptians bead was given the importence of  currency..isnt that crazy?!

Bakery looks more like a blessing from gods now! well...i havent been soo much into breads(except bread with nutella! :P) but chocolate lava cakes, cheesecakes, biscuits, rusk etc. have always been my thing! :D

soo i guess thats it for now but before i leave i would like to  recommend you guys to go check out my friends website for a lot of fun filled facts!

Evolution of food

Evolution of food? What is this crap I am reading? Would be your first reaction upon reading the title. Well it's diwali holiday and I am in my best mood to catch up with those TV shows I missed and writing this post all of a sudden feels like a pain. So what I just said is the reason behind my ultra-ridiculous title. I am extremely sorry that the title sounds like your annoying biology teacher xD

As I told you before, I always wanted food to be a source to learn history and today I'm gonna prove it is possible.

The human race constantly kept evolving from day one till today. We are all still evolving. As people kept evolving, their lifestyle also kept evolving and lifestyle  include our topic, food.

Due to unfortunate turn of events, we couldn't ge hold of the early men's food blog but w humans ar just too curious to find out what they ate. Scientists say that their food style kept changing as the weather changes. They preferred meat during winter and berries, nuts and other vegetables during summer.

All these changed when people became more civilised (or colonised by British), people started eating cooked food and manage to make their best with all their available resources.

Now, we are prone to the term fast food. Agree or disagree, I must say that fast food is everybody's instant favourite.

Fast food introduced wide range of consumers to new type of food, pre cooked food. Fast food was mean for people who go to work a want grab a bite in their very short time.

The fast food restaurant started in 1919 in the USA, but the idea of fast food dates back to the roman empire. Brands like McDonald's and KFC are now more than just restaurants, they've become multinational corporations with outlets everywhere you go. This success in their business lies behind the technique of serving food faster than others.

Again, w can see the change in food pattern depending on people's requirements. People in the 21st century are too fast when compared with our ancestors. We are demanded to be quick or else your just a massive failure. To compromise with the world, people tend to other fast food over anything else.

I can criticise the world forever but I am just too lazy. This post is just an example of how food is a source to study history (in your face, CBSE). I hope this history + biology + economics post didn't spoil your day!!

Happy Diwali!

Finally lets burst the crackers!!

Heyy guys!! I hope you all are doing well....so for all the indians out there, finally its that time of the year where there are tons of sweets in your place, each shop has a offer, all the aunties are busy selecting their sarees (ethenic outfits), you take around hundered selfies and last but not the least the whole family tries their best to create a huge racket until and unless an old uncle comes out yelling!! xD (atleast thats what my family is like!)

Yess its Diwaliii!! (the festival of lights) so let me just tell you what diwali is all about(p.s. to all the indians out there, you are most welcome to skip this part if you want!! ;) ), so according to the hindu mythology lord rama returned to ayodya (his native place) after fourteen years and so to greet him the villagers lit crackers and diyas (lamps) ,made sweets, made colourful rangolies( a way of decorating your doorstep with coloured sand!)etc.

Every year on this special occasion halwa(flour fried and dipped into sugar), kaju katlis(cashew nut sweets) and most of all choole-bhature(a spicy north indian dish) is made at my place. its one ocassion where people forget they were dieting or have diabates!! its basically a festival where you get delicious food made all day long and can hog as much as you want!! xD

I hope you enjoed reading guys..
your friend,

My experiment with taste

As an average CBSE student blogs aren't my cup of tea, when I decided to start up a blog, I had to find a partner (an luckily I did xP) and most importantly, the theme for my blog. The last time I attempted to write a blog, I touched upon things that people hardly care about. So, without taking a chance I started this blog based on everybody's interest, food!

As an individual, I am really adventurous when it comes to food. I like trying different types of foods and hardly hated some. I used hate smoked hamour until I was forcefully fed by my dad, since then, smoked hamour is my favourite sea food.

I've tried almost every cuisines, from Indian to international. For some reason I am very fond of lebanese/syrian food. The arabic platter is a beauty! It is perfection inch by inch. When observed carefully, you'll realize the hard work done by the chef throughout the platter. The more beautiful it looks, the more expensive it is.

Even though I hardly hate food, I was never fond of the European style of food. I was never fond of drinking wine, so I already hate 50% of European food. I don't know if it's the ingredients or an error by chef every time I eat European, I end up in having a really bad meal. European food is just not my type. Thought I hate European, I always loved fondu, it's extremely hard to find a fondu joint in Dubai but the few joints in Dubai are worth th visit.

The first time I went to a fondu joint, it smelled really bad, like really really bad. It smelled like spoilt milk all over the place. It got worse when we proceeded further but once I tasted fondu, all that foul smell just disappeared, all it took was some cheese and bread, that's it. All that terrible time was worth it.

My adventures of trying new types of food provoked me to start this blog, if you have any inspirations, I think blog is the place you can put it down and find people who has the same interest as you!

Until next time,

Its Street Time!!

Heyy guys! I hope your doing well. so to start...i have always loved tangy/spicy street food even though its not totally hygenic and may cause stomach problems, internal infections etc. I guess its a delhi thing that no matter what if your shopping in local markets you got to keep everything aside and have dry fruit filled fruit cocktails, oil filled tikkis and most of all messy pani-puris!!:D

Having street food is also one of the reasons for those typical foodies to step out and get a tangy flavour! For more than half  of the indian families having street food is like a picnic, where they step out in endless traffic jams honking all the way, shouting out some old hindi songs, taking selfies etc. and once they are there guess who they see?? "An old friend!!" :D

Living in dubai i dont get a chance to enjoy all that spiced up tangy food but surely we have got shawarmas n filla-fills here!! and trust me guys the pleasure you get having these is just too hard to put into few words! and incase you dont end up enjoying them, who cares?! As becuase of these shawarmas and filla-fills atleast for once your family was talking, singing songs, laughing. and werent stuck to their mobiles doing nothing! xD

I hope you guys enjoyed reading....

Being a critic for food!!

Food interestingly has more fanatics than almost anything and everything present on our planet! and i guess im one of them but to an limited extent.Being from the north indian part of India i have always had an emotional connect to food like, pani-puri,pav-bhaji,choole-bhature etc.( noth indian dishes!!) n oh how can i forget the most mouth watering dish of all times?! "moong ki daal ka halwa!"(a desert which contains sweetened n fried flour along with saffron). well not most of you would be knowing these dishes but i would suggest that you all should try them once atleast!

To be frank i have got a really big sweet tooth, due to which all i see around me are chocolates, mousses, sweet fluffy pancakes n most of all triple chocolate lava cakes!! goshh...they are beautiful isnt it?! its not lke i get to eat all of this everyday but when i do theres no end! :D Infact im writing this blog while having a oreo pastry!

To conclude i would like to say that dieting is good and appreciated only to a certain extent, because beyond that you don't diet! U stop living ur life! and i say so i say why not skip deiting?? because you only live once right?! ;)

Hopefully you  enjoyed reading...

yours sincerely,

Perception and Varieties

Some find food to be time-pass activity, some eat and cook for the pure entertainment of their passion and for some it's a miracle to eat. A satisfied man and a hungry man don't see the same thing when they look upon a loaf of bread. As a hungry man, you would be a really happy person but the satisfied man is not quite impressed with a loaf of bread. This disatisfaction leads him to new routes, he want to venture around the different variations of the same thing, this is normal human psychology.

This venture caused the discovery of all the unknown varieties. These varieties is just another source for understanding our history.

In the past, food was considered to be important but to make a perfect dish, not all resources were available. So, they got to do the best of what they got.

The ingredients they use gave us  a clear idea about their geographical conditions. The way it was prepared depicted their situation and the work they put in shows how often it was prepared.

These varieties gave us a clear image of the culture an situation of the time line of its origin.

It is quite fascinating that food was taken as a very minor contributor to learn our past and it deeply saddens us.

To conclude, food is one of the most important aspects to learn our history but not given the importance it requires, but as the first paragraph of this post says, it depends on how people look at things. I look forward to history chapters based food xD
